Ready Player One is a fiction novel set in a futuristic society where a young man travels through a virtual reality world called the OASIS. The world outside is bleak, desolate, and destroyed. The OASIS provides a refuge from the outside world and also a space to go to school, meet others, and play games. The highlight of the novel is the main character (Wade Watts) competing in an international competition within the OASIS for vast sums of money. I don’t often read fiction, but this one was fantastic. I would highly recommend reading the book especially since it’s about to be turned into a movie.
