After reading McKeown’s book Essentialism, I was really excited to read Multipliers especially because I was looking for some guidance on my own leadership style. Overall though, I was a bit disappointed in the book. It seemed very repetitive to the point that I didn’t even finish the last 30%. My biggest takeaway was to provide a team space to think. Much of the book cited how diminishers (bad leaders) always felt the need to have the answer and treated their employees like they were somehow beneath them knowledge-wise. In contrast, multipliers challenge their colleagues and push them to improve but also give them space to figure things out on their own rather than hovering and providing answers.
